Overturn transgender rights for students because "muh states rights." Use the DOJ to go after state legalized marijuana. Appoint Goldman Sachs and countless other rich, well connected multimillionaires and billionaires. Promote building up our nuclear arsenal. More tax cuts for the wealthy, cuts to important programs, planned massive spending increases for the military, and proposed privatization of programs.

Tell me again how Trump was anything but a pseudo-Populist vulgarian who used his anti-establishment rhetoric to get into office in order to promote the mainstream right wing agenda? This is essentially what happened in 2000 with Bush's "compassionate conservatism" and isolationist rhetoric. We all know how that ended.

Considering Putin has already broken the New START nuclear weapons treaty, it's hard to fault Trump for wanting to expand our arsenal.

Yes, let's get rid of the right to have abortions, let's let kids live in poverty, cut off the food stamps and Medicaid, and use that money to increase our nuclear arsenal.

Makes perfect sense, to a Republican.

that and a lot of the arsenal is dangerously outdated and needs replacement. which has been a recurring talking point that a lot of people misunderstand.

Given that "expanding our nuclear arsenal" to make it "top of the pack" will do nothing to address the issues raised by Russian arms treaty violations, faulting this so-called president for using the US nuclear arsenal to compensate for his own lacks is both easy and appropriate.

We already have a very expensive, long-term modernization program going on, of which parts of it are fine to me. We ought to keep our existing stock in good, working order with modern technology. However, what we don't really need is a net increase in nuclear warheads. We already have thousands, which is enough to wipe out life on this planet. I don't think Trump understands that this isn't purely a numbers game.

Further, investing heavily in new ICBMs/SLBMs / missile defense is a great way to start a new arms race. Is that what America needs right now? What would it accomplish? What is the urgent need for this?

Stop. Just stop. DO NOT take Pussygrabber's incoherent gabbling about embiggening our destruction and then try to come up with justifications for his weak-brained babbling after the fact. He called START a "bad deal". The man (being generous with my use of the term) is the President of the United States, if he cannot clearly explain that he wants to modernize our nuclear arsenal instead of emitting demented ego-driven burbling, then he needs to step down or be removed immediately on ground of gross incompetence.

But we all knew that already.

There are two issues with nuclear weapons.

1. They cost mega-bucks to purchase and squillions to maintain.
2. They are nuclear weapons.

I think this will be all talk. Once Donald sees the price tag, he will just make up a phony story about buying 10 times more than he can afford.

I wonder what alien visitors will think hundreds from years from now when they arrive only to find a derelict civilization.  All that's left is an enormous statue of some guy with a bad haircut and YUGE hands thrusting up out of the radioactive rubble to reach toward the stars.

The alien visitors will look at each other and say: "Wow, look at those large hands. You know what that means, right Wink?"
