New York, it has my favorite (FDR) and 3rd favorite (TR) presidents.  Mideest is 2nd because it has my 2nd favorite President Smiley

How many Presidents have been from there exactly?  I count two (Clinton and Truman).  Or three if you include Illinois, which gave us Lincoln.

Not particularly, California back in Hoover's day wasn't particularly leftist/liberal at all. Republicans carried it all through the 20s. Nixon was a moderate and did decent in his later two runs in CA and then we get to Reagan who is the only one your comment works for, even though California wasn't the leftist paradise it is now.
