I think Rubio would be doing better in New Mexico. Many Latinos would like to see their first Latino president, similarly to how blacks wanted Obama in 2008. I doubt he'd win that demographic by the margins that Obama won his, but he'd make things a lot harder for the Democrats in the west.

As a Hispanic person, I'd say Marco Rubio's edge with Hispanic voters has been greatly overstated.

On the campaign trail

New endorsements

After Marco Rubio clinched the Republican presidential nomination, the Florida Senator received endorsements from Speaker of the House and 2012 VP nominee Paul Ryan, former President of the United States George H. W. Bush, former Vice-President of the United States Dick Cheney, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani as well as former rivals for the nomination Kentucky Senator Rand Paul and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

« Our party is now united and I announce my endorsement to Senator Marco Rubio, the next President of the United States. As the Speaker of the House, I'm ready to work with President Rubio by passing his laws in order to restore prosperity, national security and national unity in this country, all elements required for a New American Century. », Ryan said.

« Marco Rubio is now our nominee and I endorse him. I appreciate his background and experience. Senator Rubio has the best foreign policy and national security experience to keep our country safe, to reinforce and strengthen our alliances, to fight terrorism and to fight for freedom and democracy around the world. », Cheney said.

« Even though we were once opponents for the nomination and don't agree on every issue, especially foreign policy, I endorse Senator Rubio. He will defend, promote and restore freedom and liberty and he will defend conservative values that made America great and prosperous. », the Kentucky Senator said.

« Under President Rubio's leadership, there won't be any new 9/11. », Giuliani said.

Bernie Sanders pledges to fight until the last vote

Even though he's eliminated since Hillary Clinton has clinched the Democratic presidential nomination after the June 7 primaries, Bernie Sanders pledged to fight until the last vote that will be cast during the Democratic primary in Washington D.C. on June 14.

« That's how the revolution will go on for the generations to come. », the Vermont Senator said.

Furthermore, while Donald Trump has announced that he dropped out of the race after Marco Rubio won the California primary and the Republican nomination, the real estate mogul and runner-up in the Republican primaries encouraged Bernie Sanders to stay in the race as long as he wants in order to keep the Democratic Party divided while the Republicans are united behind Rubio as their candidate.

« Nice work Crazy Bernie. », Trump said during his concession speech.

Terrorist attack in Orlando, Florida

Yesterday, on June 12, Omar Mateen, a radicalized 29-year old security guard who pledged allegiance to ISIS, killed 49 people and wounded 53 others in a terrorist attack/hate crime inside Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, United States. He was shot and killed by Orlando Police Department (OPD) officers after a three-hour standoff, surpassing Seung-Hui Cho's 2007 rampage as the deadliest mass shooting in the United States. It was also the deadliest terrorist attack in the United States since the September 11 attacks in 2001.

Today was a sad day for America. An individual who pledged allegiance to ISIS committed a terrorist attack here in Orlando and offended our people for its beliefs. We can't deny it : the attackers like the shooter in the Orlando massacre are the new face of the war on terror.

They have said openly that they intend to target us here, and one of the hardest parts of this war is the individual who carries out an attack by themselves in a soft target like this, basically, in Orlando, Florida. And it's a reminder that the war on terror has evolved into something we've never had to confront before -- individuals capable of conducting these sorts of massacres unexpectedly in places that you normally wouldn't associate with the kinds of attacks that we see. If in fact this terrorist attack is one inspired by radical Islamic ideology, it is quite frankly not surprising that they would target this community in this horrifying way, and I think it's something we'll have to talk about some more here, across the country. Common sense tells you he specifically targeted the gay community because of the views that exist in the radical Islamic community with regard to the gay community.

You can just imagine the demand on the blood bank. So I would encourage those that are eligible and can give blood to please try to do that. That's one thing we can do.

We will never surrender to fear, we will never surrender to terrorism and we will never surrender to terrorism. We will fight and destroy it like the evil it is. We will do it by standing with our allies, modernizing our military and using all the necessary arsenal to defeat terrorism.

Thank you. God bless Orlando. God bless Florida. And God bless the United States of America.

After the terrorist attack in Orlando, Marco Rubio and Hillary Clinton enjoyed a boost in the polls due to their foreign policy experience as foreign policy and terrorism are rising among the main issues of the 2016 presidential campaign. On the campaign trail

New endorsements

Here are the new endorsements for Marco Rubio : Iowa Congressman Steve King (one of the most conservative Congress members), Jon Huntsman (former Utah Governor, former U.S. Ambassador to China and failed 2012 Republican presidential candidate) and former U.S. Navy Seal Rob O'Neill (the Marine who killed Osama Bin Laden during the Operation Neptune's Spear in 2011).

Hillary Clinton also received new endorsements this week : Minnesota Senator Al Franken and former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick.

The Terror Intelligence Improvement Act passes the House of Representatives and is signed into law

On June 28, Senator Rubio's Terror Intelligence Improvement Act passed in the House of Representatives with 295 « Yes » votes over 120 « No » votes and 20 absentee votes. So the bill is signed into law by President Obama and will keep guns away from suspected terrorists while defending the Second Amendment.

The Brexit option wins the referendum

On June 22, during a referendum on whether the United Kingdom should leave the European Union due to growing Euroseptic influence, the Brexit option narrowly won, thus trigerring an exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union.

All around the world, there are concerns about the consequences of the Brexit. Some think that it would complicate economic and trade partnerships between London and the rest of the world through a decrease of globalization and a rise of tariffs. In addition, prices could rise faster than wages, which would increase inflation and hurt the British economy and possibly the world economy.

Immigration was cited as the second most important reason for those voting to Leave. However, forecasts indicate that immigration flows to the UK will remain relatively high after Brexit. Theresa May believes that if immigration stops there will be no negotiation between the UK and the EU.

After the United Kingdom's decision to leave the European Union, British Prime Minister David Cameroun resigned and the Conservative Party of United Kingdom has to elect a successor to David Cameroun as leader of the party and as Prime Minister.

Brexit might also encourage other Euroseptic leaders or far-right leaders such as Marine Le Pen (France), Bernd Lucke (Germany) or Geert Wilders (Netherlands) in proceeding similar policies like the Brexit.

Marco Rubio's campaign schedule

June 22, 2016
-Senate duties in Washington D.C.

June 23, 2016
-Senate duties in Washington D.C.
-Flight to Concord, New Hampshire
-Speech in Concord, NH, in reaction to Brexit :

Though I respect the British people's decision to leave the European Union, it doesn't mean that we have to take this path. We cannot isolate ourselves from global events. Brexit is bad news for the world economy since it risks of weakening free market and restrict opportunities to create jobs. We need to pursue our quest for new open markets in order to make America competitive in the world economy and to get new consumers around the world through lower tariffs and lower costs for American products.

Despite the UK’s decision to leave the European Union, America will continue to support the UK and maintain our strong partnership. So I call President Obama to start discussions with the British government, at their request, to maintain the current bilateral trade relationship or to develop a new free trade agreement between the two countries.

The United States and the United Kingdom have a special relationship grounded in the rule of law, democratic principles, a common language, and a strong commitment to peace and security. Franklin Roosevelt and Winston Churchill defined American and British war aims and laid the foundation for a post-war international system founded on free trade and freedom of the seas. The United States and the United Kingdom stood side by side through two world wars, the Korean war, the Cold War, the Gulf war, and the global war on terror with Americans and Britons fighting and dying together to defend our common interests and principles. All of these pillars of this relationship must be maintained, and our economic ties must be protected for the sake of a stronger solidarity, a stronger economy and stronger security.

On the campaign trail

New endorsements

Marco Rubio, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, is now endorsed by former Arkansas Governor and former rival for the nomination Mike Huckabee, by Nevada Senator Dean Heller as wellas by conservative organizations such as Club for Growth and Americans for Tax Reform.

Catastrophic effects of the Brexit

Before Brexit, the United Kingdom was the first oil producer in the European Union. Due to Brexit, in addition of higher tariffs, oil prices in the European Union, notably in France and Germany (both countries particularily dependent on foreign oil), increased dramatically, which contributed to job losses in the European Union as well as among its partners and to increase European energy dependence. As a consequence, the unemployment rate in the United States, for example, raised from 4,9 % to 5,1 %. Brexit effects also hurt British's real estate market. In response to this crisis, the British government started elaborating an infrastructure plan.

June 30, 2016
-Senate duties in Washington D.C.

July 1, 2016

-Economic policy speech in Detroit, MI, in reaction to Brexit effects :

Due to Brexit, oil prices raised in the European Union since the United Kingdom was the greatest oil producer in the EU. In addition, the whole world, including America and Europe, are hurt by the worldwide economic downturn. The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership's (TTIP) ratification with the European Union, we will ease Brexit economic effects, firstly due to reduced tariffs, which will decrease the cost of exporting and importing. My energy plan will make sure that we'll get energy independence, reduce oil prices in America, which will increase our taxpayers' purchasing power, boost our automotive industry through the increase of American car manufacturing and lower the cost of buying American cars, which will result to the bought of more American cars here and abroad, including in the EU. So it will encourage the EU to import more American oil and gas, which will reduce oil prices in the EU and increase local consumers' purchasing power thanks to a greater access to American markets. Free trade will bring great benefits for both America's and Europe's economies. In addition, since we are the fourth viticultural producer in the world, we can, thanks to free trade, compete more effectively with French, Spanish and Italian viticultural markets. TTIP will also allow us to develop alternative energies as well as industries specialized in this sector, which will help us to create jobs, to protect the environment and to innovate.

My fellow Americans, 240 years ago, our Founding Fathers successfully fought tyranny, declared the independence of a new country named the United States of America and we obtained it through engagement patriotism. During all the 240 years of America's existence, until today, we always fought for our freedom diplomatically, militarily, economically and socially and we always managed to overcome our challenges through conviction and audacity like we will always do. When my parents came here, in Miami, as immigrants, they learned about the opportunities that the American Dream is offering for every single American through hard-working and these opportunities gave their children, including me, a better life, which helped them to make their way in the American society. We need to restore that dream through job creation, free market promotion, immigration reform, education reform and fight against poverty, thus resulting to economic prosperity that will bring the American people together and make the United States of America a united country again.

Thank you and happy Independence Day my friends! God bless you and God bless the United States of America!
