Easily Virginia. I'm fond of most of its elected officials.

Virginia by far has the best politics of those, but I like Montana slightly more overall.

Lean Virginia, with Montana in a close second.

Of course Atlas tends to oversimplify these things. It's not as if there aren't any populist Republicans in Tennessee, all Virginia Democrats are hawkish third way Democrats and Montana is a totally libertarian/populist/whatever state. But there are some patterns.

This is true.

Tennessee would quite easily be one of the best states politically if things were limited to Blue States...not as good as Montana or Utah, but still pretty decent.

Virginia by default (normal Democrat), although there are things I admire about the politics of Montana and to a lesser extent Tennessee.

Tennessee is to the right of Attila the Hun now.  Christian fundamentalists really took over that state and they are very close to implanting a theocracy in it.

Relative to other states with a similar partisan breakdown, Montana.

Montana. VA Democrats are still saddled by their hideous conservadem past (though people like Kaine and McAuliffe are definitely an improvement).

I pick Virginia based solely on the fact that I live here. Other than that we have some crappy laws when it comes to Construction permits. But I guess that mostly handled by the cities permit office.

Well, it's still a right-wing State, so it's going to have its share of Baucuses. Still never gave us Harry F. Byrd.

Montana has a good history of electing populist, libertarian-ish Democrats.  I voted accordingly.

Baucus was a disappointment, though.
