idk about you but Steve Bannon is just like Voldemort and Trump is obviously Pius Thicknesse. Hillary is what would happen if Hermione put an Imperius Curse on Amelia Bones.

"All politics is Game of Thrones" and "all politics is Harry Potter" seem to be different crowds. The Harry Potter crowd seems more left-wing, which is why I can tolerate it even though I think it's annoying and voted for the second option.

In my experience, the most overused political parallels are those involving Star Wars.

I guess. I just find the prevalence of pop culture analogy to be annoying as a general phenomenon.

I prefer Warhammer Fantasy or 40k analogies.

Steve Bannon is obviously a Chaos Champion of Nurgle, for example.

I'm all right with politics-pop culture analogy, as long as it's done in good fun and not under the pretense of #analysis.

My preference is imposition of history on pop culture--referring to stormtroopers as Nazis or Soviets; calling the rebels the VC or mujahideen, etc. For whatever reason, the reverse comes off as smarmy and demeaning ("to understand Trump, just look at Voldemort!").

I'll admit that I love to see Bannon depicted as a Sith Lord on SNL. All the more since I know T***p isn't happy about it. But again, it works only if the purpose is comedic.

The reverse is pretty fun too, undoubtedly.

Hillary is mcgonagle and trump is Voldemort.   Lean hp.  It's a novel series from the90s and 00s not a modern political allegory.

It's just juvenile. Which describes the majority of folks who do it and take it seriously.
