I suspect, like the immigration order, there will be a big overreach in the near future, followed by massive blowback from multiple fronts, resulting in more or less the current status quo.

legal marijuana is (sadly) a pretty clear violation of the Supremacy clause. If Trump can get a case before SCOTUS quickly, dispensaries close the day after.

Medical dispensaries could have been closed on or after June 7, 2005, the day after Gonzales v. Raich was decided. Since then, the number of states with medical marijuana has doubled. It's gonna take aggressive federal enforcement to completely clamp down now that the genie is out of the bottle and only spreading faster

Yeah. It would be the same as trying to stop same-sex marriage from spreading. If the Republicans want to die on that hill, it's their choice.

I expect the worst for legal marijuana. People around Donald Trump are real kill-joys.

Yeah and Jeff Sessions is not Alberto Gonzales. And Trump isn't Bush.

If you're a minority, the law will be vigorously enforced. If you're white, status quo.

I picked other. They crack down on recreational marijuana but leave medical marijuana alone.

Nope marijuana is clearly a 10th amendment issue

I think it'll be legalized totally via referendum in 2018.

Um, explain to me the course of action that will make this happen.

I think what Crumpets said will be likely, although it feels like pot would be a stupid hill for Trump to die on.

Are you saying Trump will create a nationwide referendum? Because most states don't have ballot initiatives.

Sessions shuts up about the issue come 2018 or whenever. The issue is becoming increasingly a loser for the Republicans like gay marriage and ergo the strategists will tell Sessions to STFU.

I forgot to add: in Florida.

I think the momentum is on our side. The Medical Marijuana movement has been more active among college students here in Tally than the presidential campaigns were. Everyone I know who voted Yes voted because their implicitly aware that it is a step closer to legalization.

Sessions will probably start aggressively enforcing the ban. This will likely result in a backlash which could lead to federal legalization becoming a bigger issue, likely with bipartisan attempts that get to donalds desk. If their isn't a veto-proof majority and/or a donald signature, donald's successor will have a legalization bill be one of their first laws to sign.

Of all things to waste money on. The Republicans are messed up.

What about jobs? What about infrastructure? What about education? What about the things that really matter?

Leave transgenders alone, leave pot alone, leave abortion rights alone, just get on with the bigger picture of "Making this country great again."

I'm so damn fed up with the Republican B.S.

And the former isn't the status quo?
