I had originally intended to give him more time, but the people have spoken, and seem to unanimously want FuturePrez gone sooner than later so that they can receive adequate representation.

Therefore, I hereby bring to the floor the motion that FuturePrez shall be expelled from his office of Senator following the concurrence of two-thirds of the senators present.

All senators in favor, vote "aye"; all against, vote "nay".

---

Aye.  It pains me to do so, but the people want him gone, and I feel that he's neglected his duties for long enough, wherever he's gone off to.

Just to note: I agree with Gabu's waiver of debate on this motion, per the OSPR (which does not mention motions to expel, incidentally). The facts appear to be quite clear; there seems to little to debate.

For reference, here is the petition requesting expulsion.

As far as I can tell, the OSPR is silent as far as the expulsion of senators is concerned, so no debate is required, anyway.

It is indeed silent on the matter, but as a general principle of parliamentary practice, such motions are debatable. Of course, the OSPR does allow us to waive debate.

Emsworth is quite right here.

I had not written anything into the OSPR about explusion/impeachment because of what the Constitution sets as the guidelines for expulsion/impeachment as far as voting.  In terms of debating expulsion/impeachment, I think that should be set by the PPT/President of the Senate on a case-by-case basis; henceforth my not including it in the OSPR.

Do what you wish, Gabu.  I will vote aye, unless something drastic changes soon

This is a shame.  I introduced FuturePrez to fantasy politics with the hope he would go far.  Oh well, I tried.  Do what you have to do, guys.

I didn't want to, but after thinking about it, his duties started on July 1, which basically means that he's been away from his duties for 27 days... nearly a full quarter of his term.  I can't think of any other choice we'd have.

Do you know anything about his status?  Nobody here has any clue where he is.

No idea I'm afraid.  Don't worry, I realize he's been totally absent for a long time.  I'm just disappointed by that, that's all.

It's also a shame that I got him to run, and he won and he didn't stay active. Sad

I vote aye reluctantly.

I don't want to do this, I really don't. I thought FurutrePrez would follow me as a Conservative to the White House, but the petition as well as the opinion of the nation must ring true.

Aye

How do we know when voting is over?  Do normal Senate rules apply to this?

Voting is over when a two-thirds majority (7 Senators) votes in favor of expulsion. Either the PPT or I will declare it when it occurs.

One more vote is necessary.

But only eight Senators are currently in attendence, so don't you only need 6 senators?

I agree with Emsworth on the interpretation of the vote.

However, if this vote were to go on for too much longer, I'd probably feel differently.

The Constitution requires 2/3 of the total membership of the Senate.
