These films are nominated for Best Picture:

Arrival
Fences
Hacksaw Ridge
Hell or High Water
Hidden Figures
La La Land
Lion
Manchester by the Sea
Moonlight

How many have you seen? I've seen three (La La Land, Arrival, Hacksaw Ridge).

Just two: Arrival and Hidden Figures

When I lived in Australia, the primary means by which I'd watch movies was on airplanes, because I had a lot of long flights, and so a lot of time to kill with no internet access.  So I usually ended up watching most of the Oscar nominees, but not by the time of the Oscar ceremony itself.  Now that I'm in the US and not flying so much, it seems less likely that I'll end up watching most of these.

Oscar movies for best picture are usually never the best movie . Star Wars , terminator , the dark knight never won and now they are considered better movies then the ones who won it in those years.

Arrival, La La Land, Moonlight, and Manchester By The Sea. Only other one I have an interest in seeing is Hell or High Water.

I haven't seen any of them. Of last year's Best Picture nominees, I've only seen one, Brooklyn.

Hacksaw Ridge (loved) and Arrival (meh). I intend to see Manchester By the Sea and maybe Lion, but that's about it.

No, all those movies are sh!t except the Original Terminator (which may indeed have better than Out of Africa). The Dark Knight in particular is one of the worst films ever made.

Anyway, this thread is sad! But I've seen three and plan to see Fences this week. I thought all three that I saw - La La Land, Moonlight, and Manchester By the Sea - while not flawless, were all very good.

Just Arrival, and it should have won everything.

Just Arrival, and it should have won everything.

Arrival was mediocre in everything except sound design, for which it won an Oscar. The cinematography should have been up there too, but that was ruined by godawful color grading.

There were a few (Arrival, Hacksaw Ridge once I found out what it was actually about, Fences) that I really wanted to see, but I didn't end up getting to any of them.

Arrival was mediocre?!  Jesus, harsh critic.  One of the smartest, best movies I've seen in a long while.

Meh, I enjoyed it, but I thought it was overrated.  I felt like the ending was meant to be more profound than it actually was.  I guess I have just seen so much sci-fi over the years that I know all the tropes backwards and forwards, so something like this doesn't really come across as offering anything new.

None; which is odd, I at least have seen one, and watch another one or two after the nominees are announced.

Five: Arrival, La La Land, Hell or High Water, Manchester by the Sea, and Moonlight.

My favorite was a tossup between La La Land and Moonlight, but on balance, I’m much happier that Moonlight won. I liked, but didn’t love, Hell or High Water and Manchester. I was lukewarm on Arrival, except for the cinematography, sound design, and Amy Adams’ performance.

I saw Hacksaw Ridge. Heard of Arrival. Haven't heard of any of the others. I don't really pay attention to modern movies.
