I know some people will see this as a transparent pander, but it shows he's not totally braindead.

That's exactly what it is, but it will be hard to complain if the bill is passed. Still doesn't change my negative opinion of him.

Good. Booker, etc. can't let themselves be viciously swiftboated by the Bernie cult, like Hillary did. Very smart of him.

Say what you want about him but Booker is a smart man. He's not tone deaf to what a substantial portion of the Democratic base wants.

I'd hardly say being pressured into introducing common sense legislation after a PR disaster makes Booker a smart man.

Just sayin'

It makes him leagues better than the most recent democratic nominee for President.

What an incredibly low bar lol

He'd obviously swing back to pro big pharma once elected. Both Clinton and Obama were a fair amount more conservative as President than they campaigned as, and it's too obvious with Booker.

He is trying to save his run for Presidency in 2020! Booker had to publicly shamed by people, Is this what the DEM nominee supposed to be? Hope he runs along with all the other establishment hacks & splits the vote.

Kudos for supporting it, but...

This is reactionary. He only did this after initially trying to get away with the crappy position. Now I have no idea where he truly stands on this. What will he do if he were to become president? Will he sell us out? Will he actually push for it?

Oddly enough, I would have trusted Booker more if he just committed himself to his original position.

His original position was that the resolution didn't have adequate safety/quality control provisions. So he worked with Sanders to write a new resolution with better safety/quality control provisions. This is how the legislative process is supposed to work.

Agreed, and I think the charge will be led by the guy in the yellow shirt:

Have people seen the press conference?

Phenomenal press conference, owned the damn thing & Booker & others were like lackeys standing here. The man would be a legend & a sureshot President if he was 10 years old.

He stood next to Booker & talked about Pharma spending 130M to defeat Prop 61 in CA, the 1400 lobbyists & campaign contributions & the obscene profit & price gouging etc. He talked about fish & vegetables being imported all over the world but how brand name drugs made in Canada with high safety standards in the same factories being barred from import.

Elijiah Cummings was fantastic, he was supporting every statement of Bernie, was talking about his people in his area being unable to afford drugs, about Trump's previous statement, pharma & profits & price gouging!

Booker & Casey were like Bernie's lackeys - They seemed like little boys!

*bump*

OK, this issue is getting ridiculous.  That is, ridiculous in the sense that all of the 2020 Dems have latched onto it to to the point that they all now have decided to co-sponsor the latest drug import / drug prices bill:

Booker, Gillibrand, Klobuchar, Sanders, Warren, etc.  That list has to set some kind of record for representation by Senators thought to have presidential aspirations.  But I’m sure that’s just a coincidence, and every one of these people would be doing this regardless of their 2020 plans.  Tongue

Screw Booker. He had his chance to vote on this and he voted it down with most Republicans.

Uh, no he didn't. The vote was on a non-binding resolution.

I'm always amused by the Berniebro hate of Booker, when Booker is consistently ranked as one of the top 10 most progressive senators (usually somewhere around 5th).

If the 5th most liberal Senator's not good enough for you, you're too picky.

We don't hate him for his voting record, per se. We mostly hate him for his associations, persona, and world view.

He's a cookie cutter neo-liberal in the same light as Hillary Clinton.

In what bizarro world is Corey Booker considered remotely progressive. He plays to the Democrats on social issues but economically he's very right wing by Democrat standards. Plus he's got some shady associations with people like Mark Zuckerberg.

How is a Top 5 progressive? In many issues, he is one of the most conservative Democrats. He is one of the few who didn't support a Public option last year, 33 Democrats in the Senate did, almost all Blue state Dems bar Cantwell did.

He supports Voucher programs like Betsy Devos, his views on education are far-right. He has the highest donations from Wall Street, has speaking fees, is tied to big money, voted against the Pharma  imports & is a total phony & a fraud.

If Dems nominate him by not learning from 2016, they will hand over the race to Trump be selecting another unelectable candidate !

Because actual objective studies on senators' ideology are more valuable than #feeeeelings and #fakenews?

Feelings, Fake News? Why are you posting random stuff which has no meaning?

You wanted reasons, you were given reasons - He was not among the 33 Senators to even support a Public option (among handful of conservative Dems who didn't support), supported Betsy Devos' voucher right wing education programs, voted against Drug imports, the biggest beneficiary of Wall Street money & attacked Obama for criticizing Bain Capital!

If you don't like them, sure okay but don't paint a false picture about feelings & fake news !
