So, as an American, I'm still a bit confused as to the voting process. I get that you can't vote for your own country, and you award certain points to other countries, and I believe it's conducted over phone, right? But then somehow there is a panel score which is added to this score? Where does that come from?
It's simple. Each country awards points that are chosen by a panel of specialists, like musicians or music celebrities, and the public. The panel scores each country, as the public does it by phone, next they sum the points of the panel and public and finally they transform that sum of points into scores between 1 and 12.

For example:

Panel  Public   Total   Final Score
12       8          20      10 France
10       12        22      12 Spain
  8       7          15        7 Portugal
  7       5          12        6 Greece
  6       10        16        8 Sweden
  5       1            6        3 UK
  4       4            8        5 Italy
  3       2            5        2 Ireland
  2       6            6        4 Ukraine
  1       3            4        1 Austria

Psh, and Europeans make fun of the electoral college. Tongue

Not really interested in this thing, but I guess Trent will finish 10th today (out of 26).

Between the two favorites — Italy and Portugal — I like the Portuguese entry more, but the Italian song is better suited for Eurovision. It would be more fun to see it win.

Debating whether or not to watch the LOGO version (everything else is geoblocked) or using a VPN to watch the normal stream

I'm probably going to use a VPN. I heard mixed reviews of the LOGO broadcast from last year. Or I'll hold out and wait for someone to upload Graham Norton's commentary to YouTube.

At least the country who won both the jury vote and televoting actually won this year, unlike a certain other country... (cough Ukraine)

That's what happens when you have diaspora in Europe and an average song. Wink

UK Conservative councillor from Warwick has been reported to the police for this comment following the Irish jury giving the UK no points.

I don't think Norton's commentary was as good as it has been in past years, tbh.
