What are your thoughts on the game reform act currently in the Senate?

I'd like to start off be thanking the President for becoming the third President to give me their trust in the GM Department, joining Presidents Bore, as GM, and Yankee, as Deputy GM. I do so hope that this body will give me their blessing to return to office.

     What sorts of stories do you have in mind for the role of Game Moderator?

I think that there are quite a few loose ends to be tied up at the moment. On the home front, economic data would be top of the list. This would be followed by, on the foreign front, some type of closure/development in the Turkish coup story that Kal started and I picked up. In a more broad sense, the UK will continue their fight for Brexit, North Korea will continue to be aggressive and test their boundaries, and a populist wave has built up in Europe.

What are your thoughts on the game reform act currently in the Senate?

I have serious questions about the bill. Would we be turning Atlasia into turn-based game, similar to Lumine's Peace Through Strength or the various Game of Thrones games? That's how I read part 1 of the bill. I echo many of the sentiments brought up by the Senate as to part 2: Don't the GM and Deputy GM do that already? Part 3 seems fairly commonsense and non-combative, but I have questions on Part 4. Who is to make this report? How will it be compiled?

How do you plan to be active? There have been concerns about your activity in the past. Can we assure you will be an active GM?

I think the concerns about my activity are overstated. I've dedicated a significant portion of time to Atlasia and served in a variety of roles, serving in each to the best of my ability. Have there been times I've stepped back and taken a break? Of coarse. But I've always come back and always thrown my heart into any task put before me.

As you probably are aware, healthcare reform has become a major bipartisan goal in the Congress.  In the coming months, we hope to introduce a number of bills that will address access and affordability of health care in Atlasia.  Currently, we need someone who can run a budget analysis on a public option bill, which was recently stripped from a more comprehensive draft of the legislation that would have made significant changes to Medicare and Medicaid, which themselves will be reintroduced as part of another bill in the near future.  As GM, will you work with the Congress in assessing budgetary and cost impacts of these reforms?

Do you intend to try any new ideas as GM? As in, some sort of "innovation," pardon the buzzword.

Many controversial events have taken place in previous GM tenures, causing some people to be annoyed by the perceived excursions from the realm of reality. Some, however, argue that this creativity makes the game more fun. What do you think is the line between too far-fetched and appropriate levels of creativity?

I will assist Congress as much as possible, be it in providing budgetary analysis, cost impacts, coverage figures, what ever. That's part of the job.

Some, however, argue that this creativity makes the game more fun. What do you think is the line between too far-fetched and appropriate levels of creativity?

I've been a critic, in the past, of those GMs who extend us too far outside of the realm of reality. I want to keep Atlasia as realistic as possible and will strive to keep things fairly reasonable if confirmed as GM. That said, things that were once thought to be impossible and outrageous (Donald Trump becoming President) have proven themselves possible in recent months and years. I know it's not a very committal answer, but I think real-life events have shown that there maybe should be some more flexibility in what a GM considers to be reasonable.

I want to begin by thanking the President, for nominating me to this position, and the honorable Senators, for giving me such a thorough and honest hearing. I've had a death in the family this evening, however, and I will be taking a bit of time off from writing and other activities to be with my loved ones. I would hope for a full return to activity no later than Friday, March 17th or Saturday March 18th. I wanted to make this open and public before the voting began, so no one felt I was taking the job and running.
