My biggest fear has always been that Trump was just playing nice with Putin because he stroked his ego first and now one of these two scenarios could happen:
1. The Left, in its efforts to make Trump look like a Manchurian candidate and soft on Russia, will cause Trump to retaliate against Russia militarily to prove he's not their puppet.
2. Trump thinks he has this great relationship with Putin and that they're buddy buddy. Putin then stabs him in the back and invades the baltics. Trump being the vengeful person that he is, retaliates with military force.
I don't trust President Trump to engage with any country militarily; let alone another nuclear armed country. Now that Russia won't be nice to his ego anymore puts him in a position where the opposition party is attacking him for being to soft on a county that's now hurting his ego. This guy is notoriously thin skinned. This could get very very ugly very quickly.
