Remember how a crowd of sycophants would emerge to cheer the Dear Leader and remind us all of how good we really had it whenever we had a positive jobs report under the Obama administration, ignoring stagnant median pay, shifting sectors of work, precariousness, and the uneven geography of job growth?

Oh. I guess they're still going to do that. Roll Eyes

The good news (for Trump) is that it is much better than expected (+55%).

"This is the situation that I inherited.  I inherited a mess, believe me." - Benedict Donald, Feb. 24, 2017.

So stupid, I'm amazed he and his cult manage to breathe.

This is what bothers me about economics. It makes pretensions of being the most rigorous of the social sciences, yet it is so intertwined with partisan politics that people refuse to recognize what is happening as long as they can spin the numbers.

We did it, folks! President Trump is helping these people so much, there's no way he doesn't get re-elected!

Can you imagine how ugly Hillary Clinton would've made this picture? Sure recession right after the Greatest Ever was forced out.

Wow, so much winning now that Barry is gone and replaced with our new Wonderful President. Barry voters might even have to get jobs.

Most upsetting to a proponent of the physical sciences indeed.

The vast majority of economists don't operate like this. Most economists look down on those who overly politicize everything.

Look, it's evidence that deregulation spurs growth. The markets picked this up after Trump won the election, and they aren't wrong. That's true. Bill Clinton cut tons of regulations in the early 90s as well. But as a liberal, I know that there are externalities to deregulation-driven growth that aren't picked up in the numbers. Laxer emissions standards may lead to more production, but also dirtier air. It's a trade off.

Once every 5 months or so he'll make a non-trolling post on the Political Geography board and that alone apparently justifies keeping him around.

So imagine if Trump had started his administration where Obama did, down in the gutter.

How great would he be doing now?

Obama went through a lot of crap and laid the foundation for this growth. It's not all about Trump.

Seriously, Trump has done absolutely nothing for this, yet somehow you want to attribute it to him? Nah, we'll see how things are this time next year or so.

Like it or not, Trump is going to get the credit for this as he's in office now. It's not fair, but that's how it works.
