Medicaid expansion only went through in states that were already Democratic anyway and even in the few that weren't, the role of the federal government and Obama in getting the expansion was purposely (and stupidly) made obscure.

Medicaid expansion only went through in states that were already Democratic anyway and even in the few that weren't, the role of the federal government and Obama in getting the expansion was purposely (and stupidly) made obscure.

Why did Ohio trend 9 points Republican then? Sure it was Kasich who signed the Medicaid expansion but he also denounced Trump and voted for John McCain as president.

I think the bigger problem is that democrats need to get better at marketing.

Point being, the Working Class is multiracial. Working class solidarity is as much proving you walk the walk to demographics that "reliably vote Democratic" but will not get out to the polls if they quite rationally see that Dems won't stand up for them.

Bernie thinks he can persuade some members of the working class who happen to be white and vote Republican with solidarity IN ADDITION to boosting turnout and enthusiasm among the large number of working class people of all races (including white) who vote Democratic.

This isn't about some turn to white identity politics in hope that you can out GOP the GOP.

There's a lot more social liberals in the former group compared to the latter. The problem the dnc is going to have is two fold: these people won't make up for all the WWC voters that are bleeding from their party and most of these people are either already voting democrat or will prioritize their pocketbooks and vote GOP when push comes to shove.

Free stuff makes it irrelevant. Give people free stuff and they will vote for you. Blacks. Working class Whites. Middle Class Whites. Everyone. We can win all these groups through free stuff.
