How much would you feel comfortable spending at dinner out?

No special occasion involved, just imagine you wanted to go and sit down in a restaurant to be served on a Tuesday-Thursday night.  Include alcohol (if applicable) to your tab, but do not include tip (to account for all of our European posters).  Imagine you're only paying for yourself in this situation.

If you want, give us some more detail on where you'd go/what you'd eat.

When I go out by myself to eat, I try to keep the total cost under twenty bucks.  I don't drink alcohol, so I don't have to worry about that.  My favorite local place is "Archie Moore's" in Fairfield, CT.  It's a bar and American food kind of place....very popular, especially among the college crowd in town.  They make some mean desserts, too.  Smiley

$10-20, yeah. More than that would just feel like wasting my money.

My go-to dinner is the Indian place right near my dorm, which has a butter chicken dinner (entree, basmati rice, samosa, naan, and saag paneer) for $12.49.

This is dinner for one?

Less than $20, even if including tip. Our go-to weekday place is Chick-fil-A, which we probably could claim as a dependent on our tax return. We do go to more expensive places than that on weeknights, but even then, Applebees is about we expensive as we get.

I don't like to order alcohol at restaurants. It's so ridiculously overpriced. Why should I spend $5 for a beer when I can get a six-pack of the same beer at the grocery store for $7.99? I'd very much prefer to drink at home.

I think the last time I spent more than that was when my wife and I stayed at an Oak Brook resort while we were seeing my brother in Chicago. We spent like $75 on dinner for the two of us the first night because of... wine, which again underscores my point above.
