Option 3, stemming from:

1) My U.K. relatives negative opinion on that country's public option, particularly concerning its long wait times for surgeries.
2) The fact it may be the beginning of turning the united States into a socialist state
3) Concerns that it may increase the deficit.

I strongly support a public healthcare system, where private alternatives are an option

A) your relatives are a very small minority if they want to abolish the NHS, so it's more likely they are doing the common British hobby of moaning.

B) the public option isn't the NHS or anything close to it.

may i humbly ask, how fast those famous US surgeries are happening in this magical country?

small well-run countries like austria may be a bad comparison but this often sounds more like a myth.

Single-payer = Great
Public option = Good, but I worry that any form of it that passes in the USA would be heavily watered down and stringent to regulations and requirements that prevent it from effectively lowering medical costs.
Current healthcare system = Bad
Pre-Obamacare = A national disgrace

P.S.  Joe Lieberman.

Completely supportive. This option would also have to provide good quality healthcare because it would compete with private insurances.
