The sponsor has 24 hours to commence an advocacy for this bill, or I will have the CIA "eliminate it".

Give me a purpose of the NSA aside from spying on us.

Give me a purpose of the NSA aside from spying on us.

The NSA also does an extremely large amount of work on foreign intelligence work- one of the best examples would be the work they did with Iran, which helped slow down the nuclear weapon program, and bring them to the negotiating table.

I'd warn my former colleagues in the House about throwing the baby out with bath water

I somewhat oppose this, I think the NSA does some good work, if we want to tackle some of their surveillance tactics we can do that without destroying the whole shebang.

I would rather we try and reform the NSA like in the Crimminal justice act( such as ending the ability of the NSA to track email and phone records of private citizens without warrant.) then shuttering the organization in its entirety.

Yeah, reform seems like a better option than abolishing the agency entirely.

I object to the amendment, while in most cases it would be inappropriate for the NSA to spy on Atlasians. In certain cases such as with suspected criminals it may be appropriate to spy with a warrant.

I will introduce another amendment after this. Vote aye, and I will add a warrant exception later.

ABSTAIN -- both this and the initial bill are rather poorly drafted, unfortunately. I would like to see the NSA stop mass surveillance, but this is pretty clearly not the way to do so Sad

I meant to quote this post, and adjust. I ended up modifying it, so I'm quoting it now.
