No, obviously. Even if it wasn't Erdogan's doing, presidentialism (especially the almost scrutiny free version provided in the new amendments) is not good!

I mean, none of the proposals sound all that bad, but I just can't imagine this referendum being put forward just months after the coup attempt and with Erdogan amassing more and more power unless he was certain a "yes" vote would grant him even more power. And given that both the AKP and the MHP support "yes" while the CHP and HDP are both "no" make "no" the obviously answer for me.

to be clear:

either this goes down in flames - if that is even possible - or the democracy lite in turkey is history.

Yes will probably win and Erdogan becomes the next Sultan.

It's another piece in Erdogan's on-going power grab and everyone knows it.

I just hope that if (when) this fails, it will have a HUGE blowback on the attempted totalitarism of President Erdogan

Lowering the voting age is an automatic no from me.

i can't see how this could fail.

not sure how good the coverage about this is in the US but....the administration has put all their marbles into this, warned that rejection would mean civil war....the best case scenario would be a new referendum each year, the worst case massive fraud.

Has there ever been a major political decision with this level of unanimous opposition on Atlas?

My bad, I misread the 3rd proposal. Regardless, I'd still vote no.
