What the f**k is wrong with these people? They're leaving a string of quotes about how terrible this bill is while voting for it. This is really, really bad politics.

Hell, given that Trump will inevitably disown this the second it becomes unpopular, Lindsey Graham especially is opening himself up to a primary challenge in 2020 with ads saying "Lindsey Graham voted for legislation he himself said was a disaster and which has since ruined the lives of X South Carolinians." Lindsey Graham has to know that in the Trump era, Trump will throw the GOP Congress under the bus for the effects of this legislation in a heartbeat because he doesn't give a s**t about them.

This would be the dumbest possible move for Congressional Republicans if they do pass a "skinny repeal". It doesn't repeal Obamacare, ensures higher costs, increases the likelihood of a death spiral, and places any blame for healthcare problems on themselves.

Also doesn't cut taxes except the Medical Device Tax.

Also doesn't cut Medicaid.

According to reports of recent drafts, it doesn't even repeal the medical device tax.

So what the hell is gonna be in this? Just a mandate repeal?

I thought the whole point of repealing Obamacare was to make tax reform easier. Jfc.

Pretty much.

The funny thing is that this is going to backfire. You repeal the mandate and claim you "repealed" Obamacare. But what the hell can you say next year when people lose coverage and there is 20% premium hike?

Graham calls the skinny repeal a "half-assed approach" at the presser, video on CNN. Good on him.

If they really just want to get to conference, there's no reason they couldn't just pass an empty shell of a bill that has no meaningful policy implications.  That way they don't have to worry about the House "tricking them" by passing it without a conference, since passing it without a conference wouldn't really do anything.

The GOP just needs to dissolve itself. There's just no point to it anymore.

Can someone tell me why the Dems are shooting down good amendments? Pure partisanship or strategy?

The last one was just a nuclear option to ram through changes to medicaid.
