They are so full of sh**t on the employer mandate.

ACA didn't negatively impact job creation at all, in fact it had the opposite effect.
I'm calling BS on that. How can you logically assert that increasing the cost of hiring employees had a positive effect on job creation? The economy added jobs despite the employer mandate, and perhaps you could even go as far as saying the employer mandate had no meaningful effect on job creation, but it's just unreasonable to say that the employer mandate had a positive effect on job creation.

Edit: Chris Hayes says midnight, Senator Perdue said 3 am.

The ACA helped fuel entrepreneurship because it allowed people to take risk without worrying about medical bills.

Are you suggesting that these "entrepreneurs" created more "jobs" than the ones which were not created because of the employer mandate?

No, I am saying it had a positive impact and allowed people to take a chance.

And the ACA didn't have a negative impact on job creation as a whole. A study on this was released last week.

You were talking about the employer mandate, not all of Obamacare. I already said that it was possible that the employer mandate did not have a significant effect on job creation. But you suggested the employer mandate had a net positive effect on job creation (which would be the opposite of a net negative effect), which is just logically impossible.

Do you really they'd be flying McCain back to DC if his vote didn't mean the difference in passing or failing?

I'll accept my accolades on this one. They had to bring in McCain, or else the MTP would have failed. And with the PP defunding, Collins and Murkowski are a hard no, meaning McCain's presence mean the "skinny repeal" can pass tonight.

If one more senator had some courage, they wouldn't have had to pull this man off his deathbed to fly to Washington to deny millions the medical care he's currently getting.

So they want to go to conference with a bill they don't like? Do they know how a conference works?

I think it's safe to say it passes. At this point, if someone is suddenly a "no," they'll forever be known as the senator who saved the ACA and the lives of millions, an "honor" that no GOP senator wants. All of the grandstanding was just that.

It's A bill. Not necessarily THE bill, but it could be.

with reconciliation, this bill won't be "permanent", right? And at rate, it can only get 50 votes max.

The Waivers, Individual Mandate Repeal, and HSA changes are permanent I believe. The rest eventually expires.

Welp, looks like Senate Republicans want to lock themselves into a position to be blackmailed by the House Republicans. On another note, if this does end up being passed by the House (even though Ryan pinky promised), the amount of disgusting precedent this process has set makes potentially passing something like single payer a lot easier in 2021.
