I've been thinking a lot about the kind of government I want and its a government where moral values are the most important and that includes compassion.

I don't see how conservatism is in alignment with my religious views.  I find it to be uninspiring and centered around money, instead of being centered around community.

What happens when you combine religion and government but not Pat Robertson but more like Pope Francis?  Have there ever been governments that are based on a religion that is socialist in its thinking?

I don't want a massive centralized government either, but I want Money and materialism to become less important.  I want to replace that with humility, grace, and selflessness...

and I feel as if the culture doesn't reflect anything holy.  Up until now, its either been one way or the other - religious right or secular left...

what about religious left?  Why hasn't that ever really grown into a powerful force in America?
