I want to discuss this legislation a little bit. Right now, especially in Texas, Charter schools are capped. There's a variety of reasons for that, but demand for charter schools has greatly outstripped supply.

In order to rectify this imbalance, I'd like to see the cap lifted so that the charter schools can expand to match demand.

Given your reasoning, I can see how this would be a really good idea.

It's a shame no one else is here discussing, as I'd like to get an idea on what everyone else things.

This is really good, I know people that have received and excellent education at their local charter school after failing in their public schools. We need to end the cap and open more vocational schools to support our trades.

Charter schools need very strict oversight if we're going to fund them.
Otherwise, I'm skeptical, but I'm going to have to do more research.

Still stuck in the unions pocket, I see.

I'm a major, major sellout to unions, that's something everyone needs to learn about me.

By law they receive the same oversight as any public school.

My main problem here is that sometimes public schools get their funding cut because states can't afford both normal public schools AND charter schools.
I'm going to do more research and come up with an amendment to make sure that's not an issue.

I feel very uncomfortable about this. John Oliver did a great piece, exposing the large amounts of corruption that are committed by charter schools, along with proving that the supposed "benefits" are almost non-existent when compared to these costs.

I will have more tomorrow, but I'd suggest y'all watch the video, whatever side you're on. It has some great resources.
