Oh good. Now they can get back to bombing innocent Yemenis and oppressing their population.

Seriously, we need to cut ties with the Saudis now. How can we claim to be fighting radical Islam when we're allied with a country that has Sharia Law?

Important ally against Iran. Good news.

Even if I were to agree with you on Iran being an actual threat, Saudi Arabia is still causing a lot of damage by letting their citizens support or finance ISIS. Out of the two, Saudis are bigger threat for peace.

Don't forget that Saudi Arabia also seems entirely unwilling to moderate or reform, while Iran is most certainly less extremist now than in 1979. Iran can and might be willing to reform, Saudi Arabia, as a feudal monarchy of a petrostate, will not.

Very good point. Differences between Iranian and Saudi political/societal realities are mindblowing.

OH, SA is trying to reform, partially and made a good first step through recognizing their own fault for creating a monster.

not a question of belief on my part, just a very complicated and complex power structure, which is making different sounds on different days and changes every few years who could maybe at some point being the big honcho.

they are ofc horrible, i just am not able to make out big differences to other regional countries, like Qatar, with similar goals.

You have to understand that noted anti-Semitic scoundrel Barack Hussein Obama Soetoro was willing to  cautiously reach out to Iran rather than simply bomb them, so Wahhabi Arabia is an ally by default.

(Pay no attention to generous Saudi government sponsorship of the Death to Jews/Americans/Shiites/Sunni "apostates", etc. crowd around the world - which is especially relevant Europe! Gotta support our "allies", right??)

Yes, the House of Saud's leaders have recognized that throwing money and other resources at any and all of the Osama bin Laden types (and their wannabes) has been a Bad Idea for them domestically. Unfortunately, they're still far too scared of both their domestic Sunni clerics (as well as all of the like-minded clerics they've been sponsoring around the world for decades) and the Iranian government and the Vast Shiite Conspiracy that they sponsor (however exaggerated this claim is) in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Bahrain, and - most alarmingly - Saudi Arabia itself. For these reasons, they will continue to utilize the al-Qaedas and al-Nusras and ISIS types in their blood feud against the Shiites. "Reforms" my a**

The Sauds had a wonderful opportunity to, at the very least, limit the influence of hardline wahhabists after the Siege of Mecca. Instead, they embraced them. I don't think Faisal, for all his flaws, would've f**k around with them if he were alive and something like that happened.
