OneJ?

I need clarification on the amendment situation before proceeding. Do you wish to proceed with the amendment as written, which reverses portions of a previous one, or is something else going on?

Oh yes. I just assumed that you knew I wanted to move forward with this.

Oh yes. I just assumed that you knew I wanted to move forward with this.

I just kind of assumed you lost track of what amendments you had offered that past, considering how many of them you voted against.

Okay, I will process it as is, but I don't think restoring the "suggestion style phrasing" ("community service would be nice"...) that Potus demanded to be removed, is going to improve the bill.

Oops. That was a mistake. I'll fix it.

I apologize. I was working on revising something and I guess I pasted the wrong one.

This is the actual current text as it stands.

I'm gonna hold off on motioning for a final vote. I don't quite know what's going on with this.

I guess that means H5:26 is withdrawn.

I would recommend to highlight all changes in a manner that differentiates from the current text. All amendments are amendments to the current text, unless it is a full text replacement. Most of the time bold will suffice, but if the line being changed is already bolded (say the underlying text amends existing law), then I would recommend using some other indicator, even colored text.

This will help members understand what is being changed and I guess you might say help the sponsor likewise. Wink Tongue

You know what, I don't really like this bill seeing that it isn't going anywhere.

Therefore, I motion to table this bill.

Can we please get this passed before our terms end? I motion for a final vote. Everyone had enough time to debate this.

Is that an objection to the final vote?

Oh no it is not. I just assumed someone needed a sponsor to sponsor before doing anything else.

I don't know if this is the time to say this, but we could unify this legislation with the Come Out of the Shadows Act that was passed by Congress in March to have a single act on naturalisation. The act covered the process of naturalisation for undocumented migrants, while also creating a border task force and targeted the root causes of illegal immigration to Atlasia.

I have no issues with this bill as it stands, I'm just thinking that it would be easier to have a single act regarding naturalisation, as it would make it easier to make changes to law in the future, than having the process of naturalisation across separate pieces of legislation.

As much as I hate to delay this further, I am going to temporarily object to the final vote request.

I think Clyde raises an important point that should be at least responded to by the sponsor of the bill and others.

Also I am looking into another matter related to this as well.

Yes. Clyde raises a valid, yet relevant point.

That bill was worked on with a lot of effort and time, so I respectfully motion to withdraw the bill.

Plus it is not exactly like this has blocked anything.

We have passed 21 bills, failed 5 or 6 more, there is nothing in the queue and two or three slots will open up in the next 24/48 hours.
