To pretty much "moderate" the bill I guess you could say. However, I could make an amendment if you all want me to.

Before we change the bill, let's hear what the other representatives have to say.

Gotcha.

That's the thing. I feel that immigrants should be able to learn English at their own pace and not necessarily rush (especially if they've lived in America for such a brief time). On top of this, they have to settle somewhere, take care of children, find work, learn the way of living, etc. That's a lot!

Maybe taking a English-learning (foundations) course for a minimum # of weeks, but that's basically it.

I've been listening to all of y'all's concerns on the issues of the bill (language section especially), so I attempted to address them all in a what would hopefully become a successful bipartisan bill.

Here's my amendment

I guess I'll advocate for the right for immigrants to not be forced to take the test in English. Smiley

Then why offer both amendments? Tongue

To see where everyone was on that, like a test.

OneJ?

I need clarification on the amendment situation before proceeding. Do you wish to proceed with the amendment as written, which reverses portions of a previous one, or is something else going on?

Oh yes. I just assumed that you knew I wanted to move forward with this.

I just kind of assumed you lost track of what amendments you had offered that past, considering how many of them you voted against.

Okay, I will process it as is, but I don't think restoring the "suggestion style phrasing" ("community service would be nice"...) that Potus demanded to be removed, is going to improve the bill.

Oops. That was a mistake. I'll fix it.

I apologize. I was working on revising something and I guess I pasted the wrong one.

This is the actual current text as it stands.

You know what, I don't really like this bill seeing that it isn't going anywhere.

Therefore, I motion to table this bill.

Is that an objection to the final vote?

Representatives have 24 hours to object to OneJ's assumption of Sponsorship.

Oh no it is not. I just assumed someone needed a sponsor to sponsor before doing anything else.

Yes. Clyde raises a valid, yet relevant point.

That bill was worked on with a lot of effort and time, so I respectfully motion to withdraw the bill.
