Good.

For years we've heard about how millions in taxpayer money goes to useless things. The amount of money our Government wastes is ridiculous.

I'm salivating. Killing even 1/3 of these would be a major win.

I think they will, but we shall see.

ofc it's possible that they are ideological or anti-materialist enough that they don't care but until now republicans usually only talked the talk when "screwing" their base of older, working-class rurals.

let's see how much they like ryan-ism, i couldn't agree more.

i am pretty sure a number of 60+ million americans isn't somehow "brainwashed". a number of them are ideological republicans, another part are unwilling clinton sceptics and some just got conned and i think especially the last group is going to rethik their allegiance if they find out that trump's talk is just that....talk.

Hint: he - despite the faux outrage he might express both at me for saying such and at the broader, elitist notion of GOP rural types being dumb cretins - is betting on them being too dumb to notice and/or care.

Republican voters live in their own alternate reality. If news ever got back to them that Trump screwed them over they would just cancel it out

seems quite unlikely, that 60+ million people, some of whom never voted for republicans before, would be so convinced of their choise, if it comes back to haunt them.

So basically cut things that help the poor and the middle class or that they use and bump up a bloated military that could easily be trimmed and just as effective and corporate welfare.

Seems pretty ungrateful to eliminate a commission for the area that supported you most.

They are willfully ignorant. Trump and his ilk will just blame liberals for anything negative that happens and they'll get the typical clapping seal response.

A lot of people don't really understand how they benefit from programs. It's just that "those lazy brown and black people living on welfare shouldn't have it" and then goes to "oh crap, I use these programs too".

like joe manchin said, my voters may not know who gave them healthcare but they are going to know who took it from them.

Talking about waste, have you ever read up on the ungodly waste of Pentagon spending?

How about the $6.5 trillion that is missing?

What is your understanding of what these departments actually do (and please be as specific and comprehensive as possible)?  I'm genuinely curious since I've found many folks who say stuff like what you did in your post don't realize things like the following:

- The Department of Energy is (among other things) responsible for America's nuclear weapons program (and keeping our nukes secure).

- HHS includes the Food and Drug Administration which (among other things) preforms tests to make sure that new drugs are safe (in other words, the FDA is not some useless bloat of federal regulations, it prevents needless deaths by forcing drug companies to...you know...actually worry every now and then about whether or not the medications they produce are actually safe).

- The Department of Commerce's sub-departments include NOAA (which, among other things, helps provide us with early warnings when major hurricanes are on track to hit the U.S. so we can prepare accordingly) and the Patent and Trademark Office.

- The Department of Labor is responsible (among other things) for ensuring that the conditions in mines are safe (or at least as safe as possible) for the miners (yes, that includes coal-miners).

- Etc, etc, etc

I think they will, but we shall see.

ofc it's possible that they are ideological or anti-materialist enough that they don't care but until now republicans usually only talked the talk when "screwing" their base of older, working-class rurals.

The thing is that even if they don't know the name of the exact programs, folks will certainly notice the impact of the cuts (assuming they go through, which is far from certain) and they won't like it, to say the least.  Ultimately, most Americans want a strong military, a large social safety net, a healthy public education system, strong infrastructure and public works programs, a government that performs a wide variety of functions beyond the most basic ones, low college tuition, etc, etc...but they also don't want to pay for it.  What's more, many folks seem to have adopted a "what you need is wasteful spending and what I need are critical government functions" attitude toward government spending which naturally has made things even worse.

The relatively small size of the cuts to NASA and Energy is relieving, I guess, but almost everything else in this is absolutely hellacious. I don't think it's inherently wrong to cut these sorts of programs if it's in order to fund better-conceived or less intrusive replacements, but Ryanism's implied "...to be replaced with nothing" is sickening.

Yeah, sure. People so ignorant, stupid, hateful and un-critical that they voted for Trump in the first place are going to turn around and admit they were wrong and join with the people they love to hate. So that they can get rid of the guy telling them how awesome they are, and replace him with some socialist/dark-skinned/women telling them how they have to share and be nice to other people.
