Maybe for the same reason that if you have to call yourself "Democratic" in the name of your country, it probably isn't true.

A lot of them, like the Dutch PVV (2006), Finnish VP (2009), German Freiheit (2010), and British Freedom (2010) are newer parties that may be copying each other to some degree. The word "Freedom" in party names used to be more likely to identify a right-liberal party, like the Dutch VVD (which is still like that) and the Austrian FPÖ (which has turned far-right... perhaps they are the originators of the trend?).

We seek freedom from non-government institutions through use of said government institutions.

VVD means People's party for Freedom and Democracy, and I wouldn't call them extreme authoritarians (they are fairly conservative on issues like immigration though). I think it might have to do with the fact that European far-right parties see themselves as defenders of liberty and Western values against Islamic terrorism.

For the same reason that the Ministries in 1984 had their names.

The only exception I can think of is the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.

And the Free Democratic Party of Germany, which is basically a classical liberal/libertarian party.

Or why parties with Radical in the name are never remotely radical.

The House Freedom Caucus may not be a "party" but they are basically behaving like one now in a Parliamentary system...and are also a textbook example.

"Authoritarian" is a pretty useless label for...anything rigorious.
