Makes him sound more like a relatable "guy next door" instead of a 74-year-old socialist and lifetime politician from Vermont who doesn't comb his hair.

How are these things mutually exclusive?

I think this poster is in for a startling realization about the popular appeal of leftist populism.
In the United States? I doubt it.

I'm just saying that I don't think Bernie got as far as he did because of policy; I think he got that far because he is Bernie (due to his personality, in other words). I don't think some other Generic D with the same policies as Bernie would have gotten nearly as many delegates.

Even though I didn't vote for him, I still love Bernie. And that is what I've been calling him. Sometimes I'll call him Sanders, but generally in the context of being a US Senator. On the other hand, I voted Hillary and still call her that. It doesn't really make sense, but it at least fits with how the candidate chooses to brand him/herself.
