Thx to Chancellor Kern (SPÖ).

This was a major part of his "Plan A" campaign-like speech he gave in January.

My (gas-powered) car is now almost 8 years old and I'll probably keep it another 5 years or so.

But I'll probably buy an e-car then, because the car prices are going down in the next years, the charging time is going down significantly, the mileage is going up fast and the charging stations are popping up like mushrooms around here and will quadruple over the next few years.

I hope they will also maintain the 4000€ rebate until then ...

Plus, I will get myself an e-mountainbike over the next month.

As a libertarian, I don't like the govt screwing around with markets.  As a tech fan, electricity fan and especially electricity powered personal vehicles, I approve.

A new Market poll shows that 3/4 of Austrians have a positive opinion about e-cars and that about 40% are saying that they might buy one in the next 10 years (incl. myself).

Of the 3/4 who see them positively, most are from Western Austria, mid-sized cities and between 30-49 years old. Men and women are viewing them equally positively.

1% of those polled already own an e-car, 18% say they personally have driven one or were co-drivers already. Another 36% have not driven one, but have studied or read about e-cars.

9% say they would definitely buy an e-car in the future, 30% are likely.

And among the 28% who have a very high experience/buying index, 27% say they are buying one in the next 3 years. 31% in the next 5 years and 30% in the next 10 years.
