Following on the footsteps of what appeared to be a tense meeting with Chancellor Merkel and previous comments regarding NATO, I doubt the Trump Administration can really afford to skip such meetings. The Europeans are uneasy right now and seeking reassurance of American commitment to the organization; this simply sends mixed signals.
