Any moves that push the bill further to the right, only makes it harder to pass in the Senate.

It is over.  Pull the plug on this dead duck.  You blew it, Paul Ryan.

It sounds like the Trump charm offensive was, uh, pretty offensive.

So who's hand feeds you? It'll be interesting to see who GOPers are more afraid of. Trump-backed primary candidates were flameouts in 2016. We all know AFP and CFG have taken actual scalps, and recently.

How exactly will the senate take this up now?

Massive is justifying his no as "if this passes Trump will be a one term president" http://www.mediaite.com/tv/gop-rep-were-concerned-trump-could-be-a-one-term-president-if-health-care-bill-passes/

Dent is not someone you are going to get to vote yes by making the bill more right-wing.

How though? Wouldn't that take 60 votes?

Maybe that's the plan. Pass a bill in the House that the Senate can't possibly pass, blame Democrats for filibustering, and move on to tax reform.

But Democrats wouldn't need to filibuster if Republicans can't even get to 50 (+1) votes in the senate.

I thought it was traditional for the "moderate" GOP congressmen to be given a free vote when the whips have already secured enough votes for passage. Could that be the case now?

Saying "Yep, we're going to be good" while fleeing reporters doesn't inspire much confidence. They could very well work out a deal, but I wouldn't go on what McHenry said while running out of the building.

Mhm. It all depends on how many HFC members they can sway (and how many moderates they can keep) with these last-minute changes.

They definitely do not have the votes yet, otherwise there would not be a conference meeting tomorrow morning and another Freedom Caucus meeting with Trump at lunch. Some people in this thread seem intent on making stuff up.

A Facebook friend of mine who has been posting updates all week just said that the leadership has the votes to pass it.  I guess the Freedom Caucus caved after today's modifications.

Sounds like if they give too much to the Freedom Caucus, moderates that are currently on board could jump ship.
