Team of Rivals: DFW ditches Healthcare Bill

In an exclusive scoop, The Red Flag can reveal that President DFW, with the help of senior members of his administration is set to ditch the bi-partisan 'ScottCare' Healthcare bill, in an attempt to move towards a market based system. Whilst promising to enact universal healthcare when he was Governor of the South in the past, it appears that the President is set to take a markedly different approach to healthcare reform this time around.

The Red Flag can also reveal that several federalists have become upset with the lack of 'hardline' conservative reforms introduced by the  DFW administration. Although this is thought to be of little worry for the President, it's clear is that a showdown could be due. Several unnamed figures are set to introduce their own version of healthcare reform, which will aim to build upon Senator Scott's own bill, and bring them into conflict with the President.

Whilst much more could be written about the internal policy points of healthcare reform, it will certainly be an interesting dilemma for the DFW administration, which has aimed to appeal to both moderate and center left voters, whilst also taking advantage of the new found conservative dominance in Nyman. The approach taken by the DFW administration will certainly send a powerful signal to both friends, and foes in Nyman.

The Party's over: United Alternative votes to dissolve

In a move that will not surprise the more politically canny in Nyman, conference members have voted overwhelmingly to dissolve United Alternative (formerly Civic Renewal). At the height of their power, the party appeared to be constant feature on President tickets, with Senator Cris, Vice President Lumine, Vice President Kingpoleon and Vice-President Rpyror all appearing.

In reality it appears that the post-reset world of Atlasian politics; with less regions, a more rigid two party structure and recurring cycle of elections meant that smaller parties were always going to struggle. The party's failure to expand from an initial voting base of 10 or so voters could easily be cited as a major reason why the party was never truly able to become a stable, and decisive player in Atlasian Politics. With the departure of Vice-President Lumine to the Federalists last week, and the retirement of Fmr Senator Cris, it was left to Kingpoleon, to oversee the eventual end of the party.

The Regional Round-up

In an exciting feature, the Red Flag plans to devote coverage to the engine house of Atlasian Politics; the regions.

In Lincoln, Governor Wells, who recently worked with the Assembly to pass a Budget for the region, has devoted his energy to expanding both sick, and family leave for Lincoln Citizens. A rising figure in both Lincoln, and Labor politics, the Governor has devoted much of his second term to setting a number of progressive reforms into stone.

The South, is still recovering from the political tsunami which swept Labor, and Governor Never-Again into office, with a majority in the Southern Chamber. The Chamber of Delegates is currently still engaged in voting for both a Speaker and Deputy Speaker, with Diptherdian and Justintimecuber battling for the Gavel. One thing that is certain is that the Atlasian Conservative Party, represented by Delegate Ben Kenobi will seek to carve out a political voice in the region.

In Fremont, Prime Minister Truman has been working with players across the political spectrum to forge a new education program for Fremont, as the federal government looks set to devolve a large amount of educational policy to the regions. Likewise the Fremont assembly has begun debate on the Bessell-Truman Transgender rights bill (which has a sister act, the Bessell-Wells Act, in Lincoln). This bill seeks to expand the Evergreen-Tmth LGBTQ+ Rights Act, and formally protect and expand transgender rights in Atlasia. It's very much the hope of us at The Red Flag that this bill will pass.

Interesting scoop but I think you have your stories mixed up. Scott, Yankee, PiT, and I actually sat in a chat named #healthcare on Sunday Night and negotiated a possible healthcare bill between what Yankee and I have been writing and what his bill is including a public option, so uh.....fake news?

I'm sorry, but this is indeed fake news and it demands correction.

My decision to temporarily suspend debate on AtlasCare was a mutual one, arranged between myself, PiT, Yankee, and dwf in Mibbit.  We discussed whether we would be better to either merge the public option with the text of their newly proposed bill (which in fact draws many of its ideas from an earlier proposed bill in 2014), or to pass that bill first and then the public option.  It was agreed that health care reform would pass in multiple, smaller bills as opposed to one large package, and we're trying to craft something that would pass in both the House and Senate.  All the people I spoke with in the IRC are on board with the public option and universal coverage and to my knowledge there is no plan to abandon these bipartisan reforms in favor of hardline conservative ones.

Healthcare has not been "ditched" and I would fervently resist any attempt to sweep this priority under the rug.

The Public option or any option for that matter, is like a painting. It has to be put in an art museum. But you cannot put the paintings in until the building has been built.
