Legitimate question: can you explain what Gamergate was to me in extremely simple terms and how I would have completely missed its existence in 2014?  And why should I care about it today?  Anything I read about it just confuses me more.

I would say:

January 20, 1969-January 21, 1973- The repudiation of cultural liberalism in the 1968 elections (combined with lowering taxes) until the day before the fateful day where the country turned for the worse.

1950s- Taxes were way too high, but families were strong, abortion was illegal, and there was no real counter-culture.

1979-1992- The rise of movement conservatism through the Reagan era (note his rise through the CPAC circuit).  Other than it being legal to kill babies, everything was in a good place.  Even our college campuses were normal, and no there were not major protests.

1880s-1904- Apart from the racism and sexism, other policies were where I would like them to be in this period before the Progressive Era regulations began in the mid-1900s decade.  I thought about extending this to 1913 (the 16th Amendment), but there were too many government intrusions in the economy during the Progressive Era.
