A lot of those are exclusive to the Senate, which worries me, because the last thing we want is to primary Manchin, Tester, Heitkamp, Donnelly, or McCaskill

Should note that that story doesn't name a single potential challenger.  Rather, it's about raising a bunch of money that can be funnelled to such challengers, should they emerge.  But someone will have to actually step up to the plate and declare their candidacy in order for this to happen.

They should have started with a lower bar to be taken seriously.

Well, not even Sanders voted against every Trump nominee, so this is stupid.

According to them Kirsten Gillibrand is the most pure Democrat in the senate.

Which...LOL!

There are certainly more important criteria for how good a senator is than how many Trump cabinet members they voted for. That said, Feinstein is really bad both on this metric, and other metrics.

Why do people give these people any attention most of the TP primaries weren't even successful.

They had an effect on those that they didn't primary, scaring them to be more like the tea party. There have been a lot more successful TP primaries than progressive primaries in the last several years.

Tea Party Senate Primary/Convention Successes (incumbent KO's in bold): Rubio, Cruz, Lee Paul, Angle, Miller, O'Donnell, Buck, Mourdock, Fischer, and some would argue Akin.

But will anyone step up to challenge her from the left?

A biology professor named Michael Eisen is running. I don't know how progressive he is, but he's got to be to her left.

Or, more realistically, channel money to the PAC, which will pocket the proceeds

*bump*

Looks like there’s a separate push for primary challenges coming from a group founded by none other than Cenk Uygur:

Let me put it this way, the proto-version of these folks challenged 6 Utah Democratic state representatives, and one went for a Republican held seat (which ousted the incumbent in a primary anyway). All of them failed.

I don't think a national version will be very frightening.

I'd fully support this in blue states like New Jersey, Maryland, California, New York, Virginia, etc. but don't do it in any state won by Donald Trump by more than 5 points. Just look at what happened in Indiana in 2012: Tea Party candidate defeated longterm incumbent and lost to Democrat in general. Do you really want that same Democrat (Joe Donnelly) to lose to a Bernie Tea Party candidate in the primary and be defeated by a Republican in the general? Probably not.
