Ted Cruz criticized Donald Trump for embracing the New York values, which insulted many New Yorkers and that's why New York hates Ted Cruz who got only 14 % of the vote during the New York primary.

And yet, Ted Cruz tops Donald Trump among the New York Republican primary voters who wanted a candidate who shares their values. Cruz received 29 % of the vote from this group while Trump received 24 %.

How Ted Cruz edged Donald Trump among New York Republican primary voters who wanted a candidate who shares their values despite Cruz's controversial statements on New York values?

Because only staunch social conservatives choose the "shares my values" option.

Easy.  Republican primary voters in New York reject "New York values".  Tongue

I agree with ExtremeRepublican and Mr. Morden.

Also a couple other things.  Some people might not have known about Cruz's statement.  And also in upstate NY, some people may have agreed with Cruz, interpreting it as New York City values, which they don't like of course.

Anyone who shares Trump's "values" is not going to be voting based on values.

I never particularly thought President Trump shared my values, but I do think he shares many of my concerns.
