Something underappreciated about our obsession with Mars is that with current spacecraft shielding, the exposure to radiation from space is intolerable. Without advances in either spacecraft shielding and/or medical science, astronauts looking to go off planet like that would have to pay a pretty steep price.

Aside from the usual concerns about a world where people live for absurdly long amounts of time (or forever), I have to ask, if we cure or significantly slow down aging, does that mean we'll hold elections perpetually influenced by the same wealthy billionaires such as David Koch? With these kinds of drugs, they will be here year after year, pumping millions into elections. Forever.

Why look at such glorious news and then worry about what David Koch might do with it?
