The devil's in the details. Could be a great bill or a horrible one.

Great move. I love Bernie when he's not running for president!

If a "moderate" Democrat comes out in favor of it, he may spontaneously combust.

Since the GOP's attempt to repeal and replace Obamacare with their god awful bill failed, I think that the next Demcratic wave won't push for single payer but will instead try to transition the us healthcare system into a multi payer system like Germany or the Netherlands. Now if the GOP healthcare plan had actually passed, then single payer would almost certainly be on the Democratic Party platform going into the 2020's.

I think it will. single-payer is something that I expect Bernie to grandstand and work behind the scenes to force the progressive wing into supporting it. He might make 2020ers sign onto it for his support, for example.

Yeah, when Santander was a Democrat way back during the primary, Santander said he couldn't vote for Hillary so he voted for Bernie.

Huh? More Americans support full Obamacare repeal than single-payer.

I think this is going to end with something like the German, Swiss or Australian system in 10 years, not single payer and certainly not a federal NHS.

It's going to be politically impossible to replace Obamacare with something that doesn't at least limit individual health expense liability to <$10K/year for all US citizens, probably more like $5K/year when it's said and done.

All Americans secretly support socialism, Vosem. It's just that ~neoliberalism~ is preventing them from from actually voting for socialist candidates and policies. Somehow.

Nah, the Democrats won't stop until they get the same for illegals, too.

According to a Gallup poll conducted in the middle of last year, that's not true:

Sad that Democrats like this are using red-baiting against single-payer or even UHC. Meanwhile the rest of the first world laughs at our sh**tstain of a system.

Just because you support single-payer or UHC doesn't mean your waving the hammer and sickle. For god's sake...

I mean, the real problem with healthcare in America is that we've decided that we need the health insurance's industry's approval for any new legislation.

My thoughts as well. But I'd also add the Netherlands as another likely and potential model.

Their system is way too relaxed about euthanasia for my tastes.

Anyone who does not support a universal healthcare (single-payer or not) is an idiot.

I did not intend to redbait, just using "socialism" as a shorthand for Sanders' left-wing policies, since he, you know, calls himself a socialist and all.
