This is a collaborative timeline for the Democratic and Republican presidential primary elections (and beyond) following the presidency of Hillary Rodham Clinton. Vice President Evan Bayh, often away from the spotlight of President Clinton, was not particularly well-liked by the base of progressive Democrats. As such, he decided early on not to run for president.

The Clinton Cabinet
Vice President: Evan Bayh (2009-2017)
Secretary of State: Henry Cisneros (2009-2013); Jennifer Granholm (2013-2017)
Secretary of Treasury: Steven Rattner (2009-2012); Barney Frank (2012-2017)
Secretary of Defense: Wesley Clark (2009-2016); Leon Panetta (2016-2017)
Attorney General: Andrew Cuomo (2009-2014); Deval Patrick (2014-2017)
Secretary of the Interior: Ruben Hinojosa (2009-2017)
Secretary of Agriculture: Tom Vilsack (2009-2017)
Secretary of Commerce: Terry McAuliffe (2009-2011); Gregory Meeks (2011-2017)
Secretary of Labor: Tammy Baldwin (2009-2012); Joe Crowley (2012-2017)
Secretary of Health and Human Services: Neera Tanden (2009-2014); Donna Shalala (2014-2017)
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development: Michael Nutter (2009-2013); Gary Locke (2013-2017)
Secretary of Transportation: Ed Rendell (2009-2017)
Secretary of Energy: Steven Chu (2009-2013); Janet Napolitano (2013-2017)
Secretary of Education: John Sexton (2009-2014); Sheryl Sandberg (2014-2017)
Secretary of Veterans Affairs: Lt. Gen. Claudia J. Kennedy (2009-2017)
Secretary of Homeland Security: Max Cleland (2009-2011); Ray Kelly (2011-2013); Adm. Michelle Howard (2013-2017)

So here's what you do!

Claim your candidate! (and state the party) choose early to get dibs: (i.e. Andrew Cuomo, Democrat)

Picture of your candidate:

Slogan of your candidate:

Describe campaign so far (imagine they just kicked off campaign, who are key people, etc):

What was their most recent job experience: (i.e. U.S. AG and then NY Governor (2015-present)

Any other key information: (i.e. will focus mainly on health care, kicked off campaign at XYZ location), etc.

**NOTE** choose your candidate keeping in mind the above cabinet.

I'll go for Wesley Clark. (If I could do two at the same time is that allowed? If it is, I'll also take Rand Paul or Mark Sanford Smiley)

Sure two at same time seems fine!

Also it looks like NHI claimed Obama first. Brucejoel99 would you be ok as someone else?

Is that some kind of game where people can play roles or do we just propose the candidates we want to run in this timeline?
We play as the candidate. We build their schedules, collect endorsements, debate each other, etc, etc. The 1972 game (on pause as of now) was really good. The divided convention was crazy awesome too. I'd look into some of those to get the general gist.

Yup! I will make prompts, i.e. call debates, announce polls, etc. coming soon.

Still want more candidates!

Hi all-sorry, was out of town for the weekend. I'm hoping to start this Monday night. It looks as if there are 9 Dems and 5 GOP candidates. I will start my first prompt tomorrow night and give some more people another chance to continue to declare as candidates.

Um . . . I know I sound like an idiot, but how exactly is this done? Do you judge the best moments or do we?

Just write what you think the best moment would be like a great line by your candidate on issue X
