The only Texas Democrats that can win are Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich (yes, he can win) or Bill White, the son of former Texas Gov. Bill White.

Huh

Pops and McRaven are the only two that could even put this remotely in play in 2018.

Oh I agree that O'Rourke isn't winning this thing. McRaven would indeed be an interesting contender. I was more just perplexed by Bronz's insistence that Bill White's son (?) is somehow a top prospect (There is of course no former Texas Governor Bill White, so I'm a little confused as to whether Bronz is talking about the former Houston mayor and 2010 gov. candidate or his son who I've never heard of).

Boldly asserting that some dude could totally win with no evidence or explanation to back it up is like a time honored Atlas tradition.

Love following Beto's campaign, but I doubt he can actually pull it off--especially if Cruz is plucked away to work with Trump. It seems the chatter about Beto I've seen has been pretty evenly people who legitimately support Beto, and people who'd rather see Cruz dead.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if Beto ran for governor in the mid-late 2020s and won though... In fact I'd love to see him do it.

I'm sorry. I thought that former Houston mayor and 2010 gubernatorial nominee Bill White is related to former Gov. Mark White.

I don't think that they are related, but Bill White should run for Senate in 2018.

Ron Kirk would be a good Texas Democratic candidate in 2018 as well.

Cecile Richards and Wendy Davis are too liberal for Texas, period. The abortion issue would be too much, they are too pro-choice for a conservative state like Texas, even with Hispanic conservatives.

I like Ron Kirk, and I would vote for him any day of the week, but from a strategic standpoint, a person like him can't win in Texas statewide, at least for now.

Kirk performed the best statewide out of any Democrat this century... I think he has the potential to perform really well.

Apparently Cruz isn't satisfied with only having alienated Trump supporters. Now, he's out to piss off Texan evangelicals, too.

Seriously, in an election cycle that has so far seen polling turn against the Republicans in the least likely states and districts in the country, this is the last thing Cruz needs, especially when O'Rourke - at least, if his Facebook page is any measure - seems to be fairly well-liked by Texan Trumpists.

Facebook comments are no indicator at all. On every political facebook post in existence, plenty of comments from People who aren't even registered to vote, or are registered to vote outside of the jurisdiction for a given race, exist and are mixed in with actual, legitimate comments. Also, people sometimes exaggerate, "say something nice just for the sake of being nice", and/or "say something mean for the sake of being mean" in the comments. The result is a complete mess that it's not worth trying to draw anything from.

If David Brock isn't the joke person that he is, he will run tremendous negative ads on "Porn loving Family Values Lyin' Ted" & should play Trump's comments in the primary.

Let Beto run a clean campaign & just destroy Lyin' Ted & drive down turnout among his crazy base.

There's always a chance that someone else did this on his account, especially considering most politicians hardly manage their own Twitter accounts.

I find it hard to believe that Cruz would do this.

It's weird that Cruz's intern was watching porn starring a woman who looks like Heidi Cruz.

I don't. There's a difference between evangelicals like Moore and "evangelicals" like Cruz. The former, while terrifying, legitimately believe in and stand by their principles. For the latter, principles are just one more tool to win brownie points with conservative voters. Have we forgotten that Cruz first ran as a right-libertarian Paulite in 2012, then immediately bolted for the evangelical wing once he was elected?

Add that to the fact that Cruz is, objectively, a little creepy, and I can totally see him being a pornhound behind the scenes. In any case, this isn't a good look for him.

Have you ever read the stories from his college roommate on twitter? Real or not they are genuinely hilarious. Ted is a creepy dude.

Ted, do yourself and the people of Texas a favor and just admit that you were completely stoned when you did this (everyone knows it was you, staffing mistake my bleep) and just move on.
