Yes,

I immediately became enthralled with the valence electrons involved in balancing chemical reactions.

Organic chemistry was an excellent scientific success, and sub-atomic physics and physical chemistry kept me in science right through University up until quantum optics.

Good at chemistry in high school, which wasn't a pushover. It was a college prep school.

But the chemistry in college was impossible. I think it might have just been because the professor was a &%*$#.

Yes, it was one of my favorite subjects in high school, but I didn't take a single course of it in college (it's seen as a GPA-killer at my school, similar to Illiniwek).

nope. Too many papers to keep track of and too much Math.

I take it you don't like statistics much. Tongue

It was my worst class. It was difficult, boring, I didn't have a very good teacher, and I didn't really care.

No. It was my worst science - Physics was always my best. I did manage to pass the Chemistry paper in my Science GCSE however, which I wasn't expecting to do.

I only took high school chemistry, and I passed with an A.

No. I have always been a physics person when it comes to science, and in my brain, there is little overlap between the two. I got pretty consistent B minuses, except for the final, which I did very well on, and ended up getting a B for the class as a whole. IIRC I also got a 4 on the AP, so I suspect I was just in a pretty difficult class with lots of people who were very good at chemistry, and I might have done better in a more average class.

I'm terrible at it. Just getting by, but I do like the experiments and am pretty good at them.

Yes I was. And I loved it. Physics however was a chore, partially because of a mediocre teacher. Maybe physics is too close to mechanical reasoning, where I am absolutely horrible. I tested out in high school as slightly below average in mechanical reasoning. I was clueless!

Yes.
I remember reading Isaac Asimov's "The World of Carbon" and "The World of Nitrogen" before I even started high school.
Although in college I ended up majoring in another subject, I still think I ought to re-enroll in a university and start taking courses that point me in the direction of becoming a pharmacist.

Yes, I excelled in Chemistry. I took it twice in high school, both Honors and AP. I got a 95% in the former and a 97% in the latter (i.e. both being a 5-point "A" each). Fortunately, I had a good lab partner in both classes (with the same teacher), the latter class with an actual friend (who cared about his grade too).

Good enough to get my bachelor's degree in it.

physics:
high school - B+ ; taught by a nigerian who moved to canada and made the trip to boston from toronto every morning ($500 daily travel expenses paid). was allowed one page of equations and formulas to look at during tests/quizzes - never made one. graded on functionality and accuracy of motors, catapult, a spectrometer, etc., all of which we had to build (ugh)
college - A ; easy and enjoyable

chemistry:
high school - A- ; thank goodness the albanian substitute who studied in moscow took over for the intolerable pole, who got pregnant. loved the experiments.
haven't taken chemistry in college

note: my (public) high school had a $13mil budget

Nope. I took it my sophomore year of high school and barely passed the "enriched" (basic level) class.

I got an A in my Chemistry A-Level. I still think i could have got an A* if it weren't for the fact i suck at practicals (although seeing as i got like a D in my first taking of AS Chem, I'm not complaining).

Organic Chemistry was the best iirc.

Very good in high school. But I admit I'm not the best when it came to the hands on stuff. Nonetheless got an A+ in both 11th and 12th grade chem. Didn't take any chemistry classes in college, and I don't plan too.

I did great in high school and general chem in college. Organic chem and biochem? Not so much.
