I have nothing against Chicago, I've never actually been there. But my obvious choice is New York City since I am more familiar with it to the point of practically being raised there.

Chicago, obviously!  However, I have never been to NYC.  From my cursory understanding of New York, however, I think I would much prefer Chicago.  What makes New York so "great" is likely what would turn me off about it (i.e., it's in a league of its own as far as American cities go when it comes to size and scope).  I like that Chicago is a large, dynamic and multicultural city that still very clearly retains a base of "Midwestern roots."

Having lived in both, I think they each have good points, More of a NYC Girl though.

I do like both. I actually think that they are extremely similar in terms of density, diversity, transit, culture, etc, with New York obviously just being much bigger.

Of course I’m voting for the home town, though. Two of America’s greatest cities, no doubt.

NYC is a better place to visit, Chicago is a better place to live.

Awesome that chi-town is giving the Big Apple a run for its money.

Those who voted Chicago:  highly intelligent individuals.

One vote is a "run for its money?"

The option "Neither" would have been useful.
