60 Percent Of Rural Millennials Lack Access To A Political Life
Did young rural voters seek an outsider candidate like Trump because they are more politically alienated?

This isn't surprising to me in the slightest. For as long as I can remember only my family had more than a slight interest in national politics let alone regularly voted. I'm curious to know what the voting turnout is for older folks in rural areas well, because from my experience this isn't a phenomenon confined to just rural youth.

Waiting for someone else to build it is not the Anglo-Saxon way.

Interesting, I would have thought the opposite.

If you want to get involved in politics, I would think it would be easier in a municipality of 10,000 people than in a municipality of 500,000.

In a smaller town, you have city council members, planning board members, parks board members,  etc, and not a whole lot of people to fill those positions.  I would think it would be easier to get a foot in the door than in a much larger, more anonymous city.

Admittedly, local politics doesn't necessarily translate into national politics, but I would have thought that being more likely to know a local government official would translate into less political alienation, not more.
