I don't understand why Trump thinks withholding subsidy payments and thus imploding the exchanges would somehow be valid leverage over Democrats. The people will blame Trump and Republicans, and most likely they will be forced to restore payments/fix the situation. The end result is probably a beating in 2018.

Either way, this should be no problem for the man who makes the best deals.

Shut it down, will look really bad for Republicans who fully control everything. The general consensus for the right will still somehow be it's the Dem's fault.

This is idiotic, would lead to him having approval ratings in the low 30s, maybe less.

He might do it, because he doesn't have much experience in politics.

This will get interesting...

Hopefully Trump's budget gets ground to dust during the process. Any one of its provisions - the Wall, or the defunding of the EPA or Meals on Wheels - is bad enough. Combined into one big pile and I would rather take the shutdown.
