A quagmire is a situation which is hard to get out of and only gets worse the longer you stay in- think Iraq.
I don't know much about iraq, i was too young to like know/understand. All i know is we asserted ourselves, got into some fights, and it was a bad like war. I think. Not even sure if it was a war, or if we won.

With all due respect, you should read up on history before commenting on present events.

Yeah I didn't think Iraq was going to be brought up. I figured it would remain about like effects and possibilities. sorry >.<

Well it basically mortally wounded the GOP from 2006-2010. Obviously, we need to see how this goes, but you should hope and pray that it never gets to that level.
what exactly is the GOP i see it commented and like used on here a lot

Congress needs to delay the Gorsuch vote, Ryan and McConnell need to convene Congress to have a debate about this Syrian strike.

U.N. needs to convene tomorrow morning in Manhattan.

You "moderate" Republicans are so typical. You talk about being pro-life and protecting the weak, yet when the US bombs a foreign country and starts a war that will certainly kill many innocents, you cheer. Screw off.

Is this not being rationalized as protecting the weak? jc

You can bet that the former isn't happening. They'll just turn their heads away as they praise the military action.

I agree that this is a very serious matter, however us and the Russians and others have been numbing Syria for years.  Nothing much has changed.

What is the endgame? Are we now taking out Assad and what comes after him. The "rebels" are not trustworthy.

This is why I was resistant to Obama's/Hillary's effort to bomb Syria because once you follow through you have to commit to it. Taking out Assad and being on the ground to stabilize the situation and it cannot be done all from air.

Disappointing. Would that we could see a day when the United States stops getting involved in conflicts in other countries.

I'd expected that a steep foreign policy philosophy reversal would be one of the few bright spots of a Trump administration.  Of course it was too good to be true.

I don't support this. I would if it was Obama or Hillary doing it.

This is not a good thing.

Why should they push off the vote longer? Can't they do both? (legitimate question i didnt think it would take too much to just vote in GOrsuch and like debate the issue?)

Why does Trump "have to" do anything more now?  The US has bombed countries and then walked away plenty of times in the past.

Trump's terrible actions didn't change the fact that Hillary just reaffirmed her war hawkishness.

I'm not passing final judgment on this yet... but from what we know so far, I support it. It was limited, precise, and relatively fast in response to the chemical attack. It attacked the specific airfield that was used in the chemical attack, it seems. I need more information, but I'm going to bed now. Right now, it seems like a good move. We need to stand up to mass murder. Hundreds of thousands have died in Syria. The victims are as human as you and me. My empathy doesn't end at our borders. Assad has attacked his own people unchallenged for too long.

CNN homepage says Russians were on the base that was targeted. I assuming KIA because it's 50 cruise missiles. This really blows it up (no pun intended) if confirmed.

Oh dear, please no.

Im also reading that the Russian military was informed prior to the attack.

The right answer was to not escalate this.
