I'd just like to say I think it's best for this matter to be settled by the Congress, because if US tradition is any indication, the executive order that the President signed earlier in his term is likely one that will frequently be either withdrawn or reinstated by the party that controls the White House.  This bill reaffirms longstanding policy on taxpayer dollars not being used to fund abortions, but does not hinder the speech or practices of these health organizations through a global gag rule that the so-called Mexico City policy establishes.  I think this is a fair compromise that should settle this issue.

It seems pretty good to me.  I agree that it's best to solve big policy issues with legislation since it requires both president and congress to be involve in the process.

As I've said before I have no problem with helping fund global woman's and health organizations, the only issue is that I do not think we should be funding abortions internationally, that is the sole issue (and funding these abortions can hurt our relations with countries that are opposed to the practice as well, something that people always fail to account for)
