I got a bit of a silly question. Why exactly did we ban chemicals in warfare. I mean, I read Agent Orange and that whole jazz, but the entire concept of inhuman weapons in war seems a bit-redundant? I m NOT saying i support or want chemical weapons, just a clarification of what makes them inhuman, prevented, and its punishment if used.

You didn't make a point. You are literally asking people to explain how it is inhumane to use weapons capable of rotting the human body from the inside out in a slow and painful fashion. The distinction is that, at the bare minimum, being shot in the head or bombed is a quick death. Chemical weapons could result in up to hours of torturous suffering.

Also, the stuff used in that war was comparatively tame compared with what got developed later. Even the Nazis refrained from using sarin on the battlefield, although that was more due to fear of a British retaliation.

Yeah. One of my Great Grandfathers was gassed on the Western Front and died of it decades later in the early 50s and in his early fifties. Not only did the damage done to his lungs eventually kill him but it also limited his life in all kinds of ways.
