When I got to Rome in December, I hired a "taxi" that ended up being the sketchiest ride of my life. Was really thinking about not paying the guy when I got to my hotel. I would rather see more Ubers because they have to meet at least some standard of quality, rather than foreign cabs that might just be some creep with a junk car.
A couple of taxis I took in Rangoon was literally falling apart. Interesting experience.
