What a sad blow to Italians' long-disappearing liberty of contract.

When was Italy known for its "liberty of contract" (whatever that even means) exactly? In the 15th century maybe?

But yeah, this is a bad idea.

I think it means, in an interesting interpretation of the world "liberty", that the powerful should have the freedom to exploit the weak.

Like a powerful union exploiting its power as a pressure group to prevent cheaper transportation?

cheaper transportation that is enabled by skirting around employment laws and that is contributing to the decline of secure and well paying employment. The unions are doing their job in protecting the vulnerable against the predators.
