China is definitely on pace to overtake the US. This site says they should pass us in about 10 years or so. Their projected GDP in 2050 (30 years from now) is almost 50 trillion.

There's definitely a chance they will collapse internally or the world as a whole could experience a collapse by then, though. If not, they will be top dog.

Does it really matter, though?
