There is no war going on in Korea right now. That's one big difference between it and Syria/Afghanistan. Striking there would be starting a whole new war where none existed.
The War that North Korea started in 1950 is still officially ongoing, despite a ceasefire being in place since 1953.

Yeah, the Chinese are basically "handling" (I use that term loosely) NK, so Trump isn't going to do a thing to interfere with their actions.  It's a miracle he got XI to do anything.

This. I have a gut feeling that China will successfully defuse the situation and will get NK to stand down.

Plus Pence is going to be there tomorrow (in South Korea) which will be interesting in and of itself.  Launching a nuke anywhere near where a U.S. VP will be is pure suicide.  He may be a crazy fat kid, but let's hope he's not a batsh**t insane fat kid.
Launching a nuke anywhere near a US ally like ROK would be complete suicide for PDRK. Launching conventional weapons would be the same. Having Pence there just helps to emphasise that message.

I suspect that if China even suspects that fat boy might do something stupid they will 'step in' to 'help protect' North Korea, in other words they would invade and occupy North Korea, get fat boy to 'voluntarily' step down and put in a nuke free puppet North Korean government which will calm the situation down.

Interesting to note the tone of some of these replies, in this thread, other threads and elsewhere. "well military interventionism in the middle east is one thing, you can agree or disagree with that as strongly as you like. But attacking a commie government that's just unthinkable and stark raving mad! Dear god don't attack any reds, please dear god don't attack any commies, its just too dangerous! Please for your own good and all our lives, please don't hit the reds"

The left never seems to change.

Something was agreed to in FL.  Trump's new bromance with President Xi is a tell tale sign.  Trump can't keep something like that a total secret so he'll just shower Xi with praises because he can't reveal any more details.
The Chinese may have decided its time to intervene in the North Korean situation even if fat boy isn't planning on doing something stupid. They would just need a pretext and maybe Trump agreed to give them one.
